Why:

For over 30 years CROSS Ministries has provided an avenue to meet the emergency survival needs of the homeless and near homeless in Des Moines by providing help with rent, rent deposits, utility bills, personal hygiene items, storage, bus tokens, car gas to get to work and free school supplies so the children can start the school year out right!

61% of the Homeless throughout Iowa are Women and Children!

Our funding comes from caring individuals, the Presbytery of Des Moines, grants, and fund raisers like The Homeless Blues Benefit Concert.

Help is not provided for the families on a continuing basis so as not to foster dependency.  Please Click Here to learn more about CROSS.

For your $15 you will receive an actual working souvenir Hohner harmonica, a fantastic concert (thanks to the generosity of the bands), and the joy of knowing that the $15 will be used to help pay the rent and utilities for low and no income families.

Dave Altemeier has played it all! From Big Band, Jazz to Blues. According to Dave, when he is not teaching bass guitar,  "I like sunsets, long quiet walks on the beach feeling the sand between my toes and cozy fireplaces on a cold winter night. Other than that I can't tell you much more about myself because of my position within the C.I.A." More about Dave here. (if you dare!)

Steve George Iowa Blues Hall of Fame Class of 2005
