Hot Tamale and the Red Hots

Cindy Grill

Lead vocalist, Cindy Grill, has been singing professionally for over 26 years. (Sang before she could talk!)  With a dynamic range and the soul of a true blues vocalist, Cindy  follows a long line of great female blues singers in talent and performance.  She will get you up on your feet dancing, and may even join you!

Kevin Bodtke

Founding member Kevin Bodtke, brings home a wailin' blues soul with his harmonica.  Kevin has a unique style and the man can blow.  He will lay down a rhythm, such as many of the old greats (Sonny Boy, Little Walter, etc.).  What can we say! There is no Blues without a Harp Player!

Bobby Cassady

Drummer, Bobby Cassady, has played with every musician in the Des Moines blues scene.  In 1998 he competed in the Iowa Blues Challenge and won. giving him the opportunity to competed in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.   This is a man who loves it when he has the Blues!

Rod Moulin

Rod Moulin plays bass for the band.  He plays the rock solid bass line that the blues was built on.  Another veteran of the Des Moines' Blues scene,  Rod has been playing with Hot Tamale since November 2005, when the band opened for Dr. John at the Val Air Ballroom.

Matt Woods

Matt Woods, guitar and vocalist, has the heart and soul of a true bluesman.  He is not only one of the best guitarists in the area, his new CD, "If I Were a Fish" is due out in September. Come to the CD release Party at the Blues on Grand on September 16! Maybe Matt with autograph a copy for you.
